Sewer Laterals – Ownership and Responsibility

The lateral is the portion between the home and the public sanitary sewer main. The sewer main is the portion that collects the sanitary sewer from the lateral and conveys it to the treatment plant. The property owner is responsible for the lateral, or that portion between the building and the public sewer main.

If your lateral does not meet the above requirements the following agreement must be filled out in the District Office.

Substandard Lateral Agreement (Example) (pdf) Substandard lateral agreement will not be accepted unless filled out at the District office.
